چکیده

Purpose: To investigate the effect of rhubarb on hyperoxia-induced lung injury in neonatal rats with bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), and underlying mechanism. Methods: Sixty 4-day-old were assigned to air control, BPD, intervention groups, 20 each group. Immunoblotting was employed assay NF-κB expression. Levels malondialdehyde (MDA) SOD determined spectrophotometrically, while ELISA used measure serum levels IL-6, IL-8 TNF-α.Results: The peripheral blood TNF-α, IL-1β markedly higher BPD-exposed than control rats, reduced relative rats. activity lower tissue BPD MDA level elevated (p < 0.05). There marked up-regulation p65 expression but it hyperoxia model (p< 0.05).Conclusion: Rhubarb mitigated inflammation, oxidative stress rat by inhibiting reducing inflammatory factors.

Hypoxic stress exacerbates hyperoxia-induced lung injury in a neonatal mouse model of bronchopulmonary dysplasia.

BACKGROUND Premature infants with lung injury often experience intermittent episodes of hypoxemia. OBJECTIVE This study investigates whether intermittent hypoxemia exacerbates oxidative stress and lung injury in neonatal mice in a hyperoxia-induced model of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD). METHODS For the BPD model, 3-day-old C57Bl/6J mice were exposed to hyperoxia (65% O(2)) for 4 weeks (...

Time course changes of oxidative stress and inflammation in hyperoxia-induced acute lung injury in rats

Objective(s):Therapies with high levels of oxygen are commonly used in the management of critical care. However, prolonged exposure to hyperoxia can cause acute lung injury. Although oxidative stress and inflammation are purported to play an important role in the pathogenesis of acute lung injury, the exact mechanisms are still less known in the hyperoxic acute lung injury (HALI).   Materials ...

SOX4 arrests lung development in rats with hyperoxia-induced bronchopulmonary dysplasia by controlling EZH2 expression

Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) is currently the most common severe complication in premature infants and is characterized by the arrest of alveolar and vascular growth. Alveolar type II cells play an important role in the pathological foundation of BPD. An association of BPD with epithelial‑to‑mesenchymal transition (EMT) in type II cells exposed to hyperoxia was previously identified. SOX4, ...

Erythropoietin Attenuates Hyperoxia-Induced Lung Injury by Down-modulating Inflammation in Neonatal Rats

This study was done to determine whether recombinant human erythropoietin (rhEPO) treatment could attenuate hyperoxia-induced lung injury, and if so, whether this protective effect is mediated by the down-modulation of inflammation in neonatal rats. Newborn Sprague Dawley rat pups were subjected to 14 days of hyperoxia (>95% oxygen) within 10 hr after birth. Treatment with rhEPO significantly a...

Substance P attenuates hyperoxia‑induced lung injury in neonatal rats.

The aim of the study was to investigate the effects of substance P (SP) in hyperoxia‑induced lung injury in newborn rats and to elucidate its protective mechanism of action via the sonic hedgehog (SHH) signaling pathway. Twelve‑hour‑old neonatal Sprague‑Dawley rats were randomly divided into one of four groups: air, hyperoxia, air + SP and hyperoxia + SP. In a separate set of experiments, the n...
